Sidney met my mom over 20 years ago while sitting in an
adjacent seat at the symphony. Sidney was a lover of fine
music and fine art, fine glass and a fine woman who later
became his wife. Sidney is one of the smartest people I
have ever met. He was an architect and designed some beautiful
edifices in addition to his meticulous work on Fostoria
American: A Complete Guide. One of the best words I
can think of to describe him is 'a character'. I can still
see him wearing his red "Fostoria American: A Complete
Guide" sweatshirt along with his red hat on a
sometimes an uncombed head of hair. He had an indomitable
sense of humor that can be described as playful. He has definitely
needed it. Sidney has survived both the 1979 Wichita Falls,
Texas tornado; as well as a flood which invaded his and
my mom's home just a few short years later. He walked with
my mom in her 10+ year battle with cancer and still had
time to devote to his love of Fostoria American, and of
course, their many kitty cats. Sidney passed away of a sudden
heart attack December 4, 1999 and was followed in death
shortly thereafter by my mom, Tana Seligson. It was Sidney's
hope that I would continue offering his Fostoria American book after he was
gone. I am very proud to do just that. He and my mom will
be missed most dearly.
